Q. What is 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™?
A. It is an innovative 70:20:10 enablement approach that offers an assessed capability development solution for those wanting to implement 70:20:10 , and recognises their achievement with implementing the 70:20:10 framework. Throughout the program participants apply 70:20:10 practices and principles to a range of tasks within the context of their work and organisational objectives.
Q. Who can undertake Certification?
A. It is available to individuals within teams who are implementing 70:20:10 within their organisations, and whose organisation holds a current access licence to 70:20:10 Forum that covers the program duration.
Q. How long is the Certification program?
A. Certification is a 12 month program. Your organisation needs to have licenced access during the full 12 months of the program to ensure you can complete the program. Please check that your organisation will have access for the full 12 months of the program. If it does not then it should either extend its access for a further 12 months.
Q. How does our organisation align their Licenced Access to their 12 month Certification program?
A. The 70:20:10 Forum will review the term of your current access, and calculate an extension of your current access, to provide the coverage required by your Certification program participants. If your organisation does not have access to 70:20:10 Forum, we will activate your access at the same time as your Certification commencement, to align the two terms.
Q. How long do I have to attain 70:20:10 Certification?
A. You have 12 months. We suggest you submit your scope by month two. You/your team members should submit for final assessment by month 10, giving time for assessment turnaround as well as time for revisions which may need to be done by each participant before Certification is awarded. All team members must submit their completed pathway in order for 70:20:10 Forum to undertake final assessment.
Q. How do I apply to undertake 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification?
A. To enrol in Certification your organisation must first hold a current access licence to 70:20:10 Forum which will cover your involvement in the 12 month program. Then you will be required to fill out the application form and nominate program participants. Within 10 days of receipt of full payment for both 70:20:10 Forum access and the Certification program, your team will be activated in line with the date you have stipulated on the application form. We will confirm the activation date with your organisation's primary contact.
Q. What happens if your organisation does not have Licenced Access to cover your Certification program for the 12 months?
A. If your organisation does not have 12 months or more to access to 70:20:10 Forum at the time you start the program, your access to the website and pathway will be terminated before you complete the program. You can either renew or extend your organisation's access for a further 12 months.
Q. Is 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ included with Licenced Access?
A. No. Certification is a program offered at an additional fee to 70:20:10 Forum Licenced Access.
Q. How much will it cost?
A. The 70:20:10 Forum solutions team will provide a quotation of fees in line with your requirements and the number of participants you wish to enrol in the program. Please contact us for details.
Q. Why do you need to have 70:20:10 Forum Licence Access to enrol in 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™?
A. 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ is a supplementary service that is underpinned and supported by full access to the 70:20:10 Forum. Throughout their Certification program, participants draw on the knowledge and support of the global community of practitioners, and leverage resources, information, performance support tools and professional development from within the 70:20:10 Forum.

How does 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification work?
Q. How does it work?
A. It is an online, guided pathway offered over three levels which reflect the different roles and responsibilities of the learning function, with activities that can be aligned to the maturity of the organisation's learning culture and the capabilities of the participant. It comprises a series of tasks which guide and support participants within teams to develop and implement their 70:20:10 strategy aligned to their organisational objectives. Certification participants follow 70:20:10 principles that provide challenging experiences, opportunities to practice, rich conversations and spaces to reflect.
Q. Why was 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ introduced?
A. Feedback from L&D/HR practitioners indicated that the industry was mostly aware of the challenges it faced when implementing workplace learning but were still struggling with how to do this in practice. Certification was developed to respond to this need, providing a platform which enabled practitioners to learn as they work, using the 70:20:10 practices and principles to plan and develop their 70:20:10 strategy within the context of their work and organisational objectives.
Q. What are the three Certification levels?
A. Level 1 offers an entry level to the 70:20:10 framework with levels 2 and 3 of certification focusing on more specific elements geared towards organisational solutions and over-arching operational strategy alignment. For more information download the brochure.
Q. What are the benefits of undertaking Certification?
A. Certification works to transform the learning function by moving from a reliance on formal learning (the '10') by creating a learning environment which enables practitioners to develop and implement workplace learning anchored in experiential (the '70') and social learning (the '20') elements.
Certification is where the team convenes and captures its strategy and associated tasks, discussions and outcomes using and applying 70:20:10 practices and principles. The key elements of Certification work to:
- Deliver the hands on 'how-to' around planning and developing workplace learning strategies in line with organisational objectives
- Build L&D capability around how to exploit learning in the workflow through experience and exposure based solutions
- Drive collaboration within the working team and the organisation

Q. How was it designed?
A. The design of 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ is modeled on the well known and proven apprenticeship approach where learning is active, within the workplace context and socially connected. It draws on the proven process of learning through the physical integration of the participant's day-to-day work throughout their Certification pathway. An important part of the Certification program is the access and sharing element supported by the Certification Pathways library and the Community of Practice events providing a range of interactive opportunities for collaboration and discussion.
Certification tasks are underpinned by four key activities that support 'real' learning:
- Exposure to rich experiences
- The opportunity to practice
- Conversation and sharing with others
- Space and time to reflect
Undertaking 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™
Q. How do I know what level of Certification I should undertake?
A. There are three Certification levels aligned with different stages of implementation, capability and organisational maturity. The 70:20:10 Solutions Team will be able to advise you on the level most suitable to you and your team. Contact us to discuss your level allocation further.
Q. Are there requirements for entry into the Certification program?
A. Your Certification participation requires that you are a practitioner within an organisation who holds current licenced access to the 70:20:10 Forum and you are seeking to implement 70:20:10 within your organisation. 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ is optimised for a team approach.
Q. How is Certification geared around a team approach?
A. 70:20:10 Practitioner Certification™ is normally implemented by project or functional teams with participants working together to implement strategy and solutions. Each team member's experience and practice is captured in their own pathway. Team members collaborate throughout the program including defining the scope, and developing the final case study together. Certification is awarded to each individual (not the team or the organisation as an entity).
Q. How many hours per week would need to be allocated to certification
A. The time required to attain certification is defined by each participant's scope of work. One of the most valuable aspects of the program's design is that Certification is not separate from your work, it is your work, and teams use Certification to plan, develop and implement their 70:20:10 strategy and workplace learning solutions.
Q. What is the turnaround time for assessments and final submission?
A. You will receive assessment feedback within three business days of submitting your scope, and two weeks from submission of your completed pathway. We suggest you submit your scope by month two. You/your team members should submit for final assessment by month 10, giving time for assessment turnaround as well as time for revisions which may need to be done by each participant before Certification is awarded. All team members must submit their completed pathway in order for 70:20:10 Forum to undertake final assessment.
Q. As a team, can all participants have the same scope?
A. A team may develop a shared scope, capturing the focus of their implementation strategy/plans. The shared scope must define the roles, responsibilities and priorities of each team member in supporting the overall learning strategy.
Q. What happens if a team participant falls behind, or leaves the organisation before completion?
A. If a team member falls behind, you will need to work through your sponsor to support the remaining team members to complete requirements. If a team member leaves your team during the program, they forfeit their place in the program.
Q. What if the organisation’s strategy/circumstances change midway through my or my team’s certification?
A. Certification aims to support your team to remain agile and adapt to changing needs and priorities in the workplace. Any changes which occur throughout the Certification program should be captured and shared within the pathway activities.
Q. How do I reference external materials used or referred to?
A. There are no academic standards of referencing applied. The expectation is that source notes and the work of others (i.e. colleagues) must be clearly referenced with appropriate attribution.
Q. What if I finish my certification well within the 12 month period?
A. You may complete the Certification program and submit for assessment at any time during the 12 month program. Assessment of individuals within teams occurs only when all team members have submitted for assessment.
Q. What if my scope or my final submission are not successful?
A. Participants will be given feedback to assist them in achieving the required standard within the 12 month program term.
Q. How long is my Certification valid for?
A. Once awarded, your Certified 70:20:10 Practitioner™ status is valid for 12 months. Certified Practitioners then have the option to maintain their Certified status at the same level or advance to the next level. The currency of a Certified Practitioner's status can be verified using the 70:20:10 Forum's verification tool.
Q. How do I renew my Certification and what is involved?
A. On completion of certification you will have 2 options
- Progress to the next level of certification
- Maintain currency at the awarded level by purchasing another place in the program for the next 12 month period.

Q. How long is my certification badge valid for?
A. Certification status is valid for 12 months from the date of attainment. The Certified 70:20:10 Practitioner™ badge displays the level attained, and the most recent year that you were awarded certification. You can use this badge ongoing, or maintain the currency of your status at the same level or advance to the next level to receive an updated year badge, and level badge (if this applies).
Q. What happens when I achieve Certified 70:20:10 Practitioner™ status?
A. You will be awarded with a Certified 70:20:10 Practitioner ™ electronic badge that will be displayed on your 70:20:10 Forum profile and can also be added to your LinkedIn and other professional profiles. You will also be provided with a printed Certificate, a registration number, be listed on our website directory and be eligible to use the post-nominals C70:20:10.
Q. If I don’t maintain my Certification status, how long to do I get access to the Certification section of the 70:20:10 Forum website?
A. Program participants have access to the Certification library area for the duration of the 12 month program. If Certification is not maintained, access will not continue.
